'Dogs defeat Otters in Friday exhibition match, 72-50

FRESNO, Calif.- Bulldogs were led by preseason All-MW Mia Jacobs who finished in double figures. Fresno State women's basketball won its exhibition game on Friday evening at the Save Mart Center, defeating CSU Monterey Bay, 72-50.Â
How it happened
Seven newcomers made their debut in Bulldog uniforms, Laney Amundsen and Mariah Elohim earned a start while Saga Ukkonen, Rayna Williams, Danae Powell, Holly Griffiths and Aloni Oliver all added to the game action. The 'Dogs started off strong in the first half taking the lead for 18 minutes with a 7-point scoring run in the opening period. Otters put up a fight of their own holding even to the 'Dogs. Fresno State held a small three point lead after the first half.Â
Monterey Bay made their push and grabbed a short-lived lead in the final minutes of the third period after a jumper off a Bulldog turnover. A three-pointer from Jacobs snags the final lead change of the night. Jumper in the paint from Maria Konstantinidou gives the Bulldogs their double-figure lead back.Â

By the start of the fourth period the 'Dogs created a 39-point difference and closed out the game with an additional 15-points. Fresno State held Monterey Bay to two points in the final quarter.Â
