Alumni Spotlight: Latoya Brown

We continue our alumni spotlight with Latoya Brown. The 5'6" guard from Whigham, Georgia played two seasons for the Bulldogs from 2007-09 under head coach Adrian Wiggins. During her junior season, Brown appeared in 32 games and averaged 2.3 points and 13.3 minutes per game while shooting 34 percent from the field. Her most notable performances during her junior season came at TCU on Nov. 28, 2007 where she scored a season high 14 points and against Idaho on Feb. 14, 2008 where Brown played a season high 22 minutes while collecting a season high four rebounds and five assists.Â
Her senior season included 32 appearances where Brown averaged 10.3 minutes a game, scored a season high six points against New Mexico State on Feb. 13, 2009, collected a season high five assists against Hawaii on Jan, 8, 2009, and earned the Leadership Award following the conclusion of the season.
Q: What is your current profession, and where do you work?
Brown: I'm the Head Girls Basketball at Luella High School in Locust Grove , Georgia.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your current profession?
Brown: I enjoy being able to give back to my students in what I call laying to forward.Â

Q: How did your time at Fresno State prepare you for your career and life after college?
Brown: Being a Bulldog prepared me for life outside of college. The skills that my coaches taught me were how to be the very best of myself. Taking pride in everything that you do and everything that you do have pride in it. These simple words have put me in some great rooms.

Q: What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete?Â
Brown: My favorite memory will always be bringing the first conference championship to the valley.Â

Q: What do you miss most about your time at Fresno State and being a student-athlete?Â
Brown: I miss the family environment, just the overall love and energy that being a bulldog came with. There wasn't a place you could go and people weren't proud of you wearing that uniform.Â

Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?Â
Brown: UnforgettableÂ

Q: What is the biggest piece of advice you would give to current student-athletes?
Brown: I would say enjoy every moment of the journey. Enjoy the hard days just as much as the difficult days.That's where the true bulldog is built .

Q: If you could give a message to the Fresno State family, what would it be?Â
Brown: Thank you for bringing me into your home and making me a part of the family. Most important thanks for the continued support ! Once a bulldog is truly always a bulldog.
