First half troubles 'Dogs in loss at Baylor

WACO, Texas - The No. 6 Fresno State equestrian team fell 12-5 at No. 10 Baylor on Friday, suffering its first loss of the season while Baylor picked up its first win. Aubrey Gerdes earned the horsemanship Most Outstanding Performer honor against the Bears after scoring a season-high 74 for her first career MOP.Â

Fresno State was behind early, not scoring a point in the first half of events (reining and flat) against the Bears. Two riders tied in their reining rides with a 69 from Shelby Robinette and a 68 from Adrianna Runzo.

The Bulldogs started the second half strong with a dominant showing in the horsemanship, earning a 4-0-1 win in the event to scratch back. Fresno State earned points from Emma Hanson, Hailey Olson, Shelby Robinette and Aubrey Gerdes. Abby Goddard tied in her ride.

Fresno State earned just one point in the fences from sophomore Paris Mahoney in a 85-83.5 ride.
