Hogs defeat 'Dogs, 82-58

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Fresno State men's basketball team dropped an 82-58 decision to Arkansas on Saturday afternoon at Simmons Bank Arena. The Razorbacks used a strong first-half run and efficient shooting in the second half to pull away from the Bulldogs.
Fresno State (6-4) was led by Wilson Jacques, who recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Jac Mani added 12 points off the bench, while Jake Heidbreder chipped in eight points.
Arkansas improved to 7-2 on the season behind three players in double figures, led by Darius Acuff Jr.'s 18 points and eight assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Arkansas jumped out to an early lead by utilizing its speed in transition, forcing several turnovers from Fresno State that resulted in quick points. The Razorbacks built an early 7-0 advantage before the Bulldogs got on the board with a Zaon Collins layup.
Fresno State settled in midway through the first half, getting inside scoring from Jacques and energy from the bench unit. A three-pointer from Mani and back-to-back dunks by DeShawn Gory helped the Bulldogs trim the deficit to nine points with under four minutes remaining in the half.
However, Arkansas closed the opening frame strong with late three-pointers and a fast-break finish to take a 34-24 lead into the locker room.
The Razorbacks opened the second half with a quick 6-0 run, stretching the lead to 40-24 after consecutive three-pointers. Fresno State answered with free throws from Heidbreder and a putback by Jacques, but Arkansas continued to apply pressure on both ends.
Midway through the second half, Arkansas pushed its lead to 50-26 following a steal and dunk. The Bulldogs continued to fight, getting baskets from Jacques in the paint and Mani from the perimeter, but the Razorbacks' depth and shooting proved to be the difference down the stretch.
