'Dogs clinch series against Nevada with shutout win

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team delivered a resounding 13-0 victory over Nevada in seven innings to close the first series of Mountain West play for both teams.
With the win, the Diamond 'Dogs clinched a series win and advanced to 8-11 on the season and 2-1 in Mountain West games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game started quietly as both teams were held scoreless in the first inning, but the Bulldogs wasted no time seizing control in the second. Eddie Saldivar set the tone with a double, driving in runs to give Fresno State an early 3-0 lead.
In the third inning, Fresno State added to their lead as Justin Stransky hit his second home run of the series to drive in Bobby Blandford and extend the margin to 5-0.
The Bulldogs continued to push ahead in the fifth inning by loading the bases with two outs. Saldivar drove in all three baserunners with a base-clearing double.
Fresno State's offense erupted for the final time in the sixth inning, scoring five runs to seal the outcome. Cam Schneider and Saldivar both recorded doubles, while Blandford, Griffen Sotomayor, Trevino and Sky Collins all recorded singles in the inning, finalizing the Bulldog lead at 13-0.
