Ash grabs 400 hurdle win at Hornet Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The opening day of the Hornet Invitational saw three Fresno State athletes earn Top 3 results, highlighted by Jewel Ash winning the 400-meter hurdles on Friday afternoon at Hornet Stadium.
In her first race since the Mountain West Indoor Championships, Ash claimed her first win of the outdoor season, clocking a time of 58.17 in the 400-meter hurdles. The senior transfer's time is the third-fastest in program history.
The Bulldogs' two other Top 3 results came in the field. In the javelin, Harriette Mortlock finished runner-up. The junior's top mark of the competition measured in at 48.59m/159‑5. Earlier in the day, Emma Harper placed third in the hammer with a top throw of 55.95m/183‑7. It was the senior's best mark of this season.
Day 2 of the meet begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT.
