LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State baseball team faced UNLV in a thrilling contest to close the second conference series of the season on Sunday afternoon. Fresno State pulled out an 8-7 victory over the Rebels, preventing UNLV from completing a series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State got off to a strong start, scoring a run in the top of the first inning, but UNLV responded immediately with two runs of their own in the bottom half.
The Bulldogs found their rhythm in the third inning, plating three runs to take a 4-3 lead, thanks to timely hits from Justin Stransky and Murf Gray.
UNLV reclaimed momentum in the fourth inning, erupting for four runs to go up 7-4. The Bulldogs came back in the sixth, scoring three runs to tie the game at 7-7.
The Bulldogs' bullpen held firm in the later innings, with JT Guerrero pitching three shutout frames to stifle the Rebels' offense. Fresno State added a crucial insurance run in the seventh, pushing the score to 8-7.

The Bulldogs head to Sacramento State on Tuesday for a rematch against the Hornets at 6:05 p.m. PT.
