Bulldogs shut out at UNLV
9/28/2025 3:39:00 PM | Women's Soccer
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Despite outshooting the Rebels 19-5, Fresno State's efforts fell short as the Bulldogs were shut out by UNLV by a final score of 1-0 at Peter Johann Memorial Field on Sunday
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams established their physical style of play right from kickoff. Fresno State threatened off a free kick in the 7th minute, as the ball landed inside the box where it took multiple Fresno State bounces, but the Bulldogs came up empty after multiple shot attempts were blocked.
UNLV found the back of the net in the 29th minute. A pass towards the net would lead to a Rebel shot that hit the post before Maillie Ramirez cleaned up the rebound to put UNLV up 1-0 with fifteen to play in the half. Fresno State outshot UNLV 9-4 in the opening half but headed into the break down a goal.
Fresno State dominated possession throughout the second half, keeping the Rebels pinned in their defensive zone. The Bulldogs saw multiple scoring opportunities blocked early in the half by Rebel defenders before shots by Tiana Beavers and Alexis Campbell were saved by the UNLV goalie.Â
The Bulldogs held UNLV without a shot in the second half for nearly thirty minutes as they continued to push for the tying goal. Kaya Scott came close to bringing Fresno State even with UNLV in the 86th minute, but her shot would drift wide left of the goal. Klara Chapeyrout had the Bulldogs final chance of the afternoon with a shot from the top of the box, but the UNLV netminder would make the save as Fresno State dropped their first conference game of the seasonÂ
