'Dogs fend off Spartans in final dual meet

SAN JOSE, Calif.- The Fresno State women's swim and dive team earned a hard fought win, in their final dual meet of the season against conference opponent San Jose State on Saturday afternoon, 151-105.Â
How it happenedÂ
The 400 medley relay started it all off for the day, Fresno State got ahead with the win. The relay group of Clark, Lung, Oke and Pulkkinen touched for a time of 3:37.99, almost three second faster than the second place Spartans.Â
Three Bulldogs slid in the top spot in the 1000 free with Laura Kalmar taking the crown followed by Riley Baldwin and Caroline Grimsley. San Jose's first event win came in the 200 free but Fresno State took the next two. Miller Lung's first win came quickly in the 50 freestyle, the Clovis native dropped a 22.76.Â
Pulkkinen also earned herself two event wins in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. In true Bulldog behavior, Aliz Kalmar was the event winner in the 200 breaststroke.Â
It was all Fresno State in the 500 freestyle as freshman Grimsley earned her first collegiate event win with a time of 5:02.65. Ava Elliott touched for second with a time of 5:04.16 while Ella Turner placed third (5:12.02). Last win for the 'Dogs came from Miller Lung in the 200 IM, out touching her opponent by one-tenth of a second.Â
