FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State softball will officially open the 2026 season with the Bulldog Kickoff Classic. The tournament features Fresno State, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Idaho State.Â
Fresno State will open the tournament against SIUE on Friday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. PT followed by Idaho State at 5 p.m. PT.Â
BULLDOG BONES
Opponent off the bat - SIUE
• SIUE was picked second in the Ohio Valley Conference and received eight first-place votes
• Avery Arwood, the OVC Freshman of the Year last season, was a first team All-OVC selection in 2025 and a member of the OVC All-Newcomer team.
• Outfielder Kaylin Fahy and infielder Raegan Duncan were selected by the OVC as Players to Watch.
• Fahy is the only returning player to this season's roster who appeared in all 54 games last season.
• Juztyne Torres returns as the player with the top returning batting average at .273.
• SIUE finished runner-up in the 2025 OVC regular season standings and was the OVC Tournament runner-up.
• The Cougars posted a .450 slugging percentage last season, the fifth best mark in school history and the second-best in the D-I era.

- Idaho State had five preseason All-Conference selections and senior outfielder Ava Brown was named the Big Sky Preseason Most Valuable Player
- Brown was joined on the preseason All-Conference team by Jenna Kearns, Alyssa Yee, Kasey Aguinaga, and Lizzy Tommasini
- Idaho State earned five first-place votes and a league-best 25 points after capturing the 2025 regular-season title.
- Idaho State is coming in at 21st in the nation out of the mid-major schools on the list.
- Fresno State was selected sixth in the Mountain West preseason poll
- Bulldogs saw 37 points from the preseason ballot
- New conference member Grand Canyon was selected as the preseason favorites with six first place votes, the Lopes also grabbed the preseason Player of the YearÂ

Valley facesÂ
- The 2026 Fresno State softball team sees more Bulldogs that hail from the Valley. Freshman 'Dogs Arianna Aguayo comes to Margie Wright from the same stomping grounds as sophomore catcher Rylee Bocchini, Liberty HS in Madera, Calif.
- Incoming senior Lauryn Carranco comes back home to the Valley, the pitcher grew up in Clovis and attended Clovis High School.
- Christal Lopez traveled up the 99 after spending time with the Roadrunners. Lopez grew in Fresno and attended Buchanan High School.
- Giana Quintanar didn't have to relocate far either, the Clovis East graduate is trading in her time as a Fresno City Ram to become a Bulldog.
