How it happenedÂ
Bulldogs jumped on the Rebels early, plating five runs across the first two innings to take control. Fresno State set the tone in the first inning, scoring twice on three hits. Jamie Hicks got it rolling with a RBI single to left field bringing in Emma Martinez. Following behind, Mallory Vancleave's single to center field brought it Hicks for the second run of the inning.Â
The momentum carried into the second, where the Bulldogs capitalized on a UNLV miscue to extend the lead to 5-0. At the plate again, Hicks singled to bring Crosby in from second and error from the Lady Rebels opened the door for Hicks to stop at second. Olivia Hill's two RBI's brought the 'Dogs up to five unanswered runs.Â
UNLV responded with a two-run third inning to get on the board, but Fresno State answered with a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to maintain separation. Alyssa Ramirez and Hicks would grab an RBI in the fourth inning. The heavy hit came in the fifth inning as Crosby hit a deep homer to center field for a two-run RBI, hitting her second home run of this season. Lady Rebels got in their final run after an error by the Bulldogs in the sixth inning.Â
In the circle, Lauryn Carranco delivered a strong outing, tossing a complete game while allowing three runs on seven hits. The senior struck out seven.Â
