How it HappenedÂ
The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first. Emma Martinez opened the frame with a double to left, moved up on a hit by pitch and a groundout, then scored on an RBI double play ball off the bat of Alyssa Ramirez to give Fresno State a 1-0 lead.
Stanford responded immediately in the top of the second, capitalizing on a pair of Fresno State errors to plate five runs and take control. The Cardinal added two more in the third and four in the fourth to extend the lead to 11-1.
Martinez and Jerzie Liana accounted for Fresno State's two hits in the contest, while Ramirez drove in the Bulldogs' lone run.
In the circle, Alyssa Loza drew the start and worked three innings with three strikeouts. Ramirez tossed the final two innings in relief and struck out two.
