ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Fresno State rallied late in the sixth inning to pull ahead against New Mexico, but fell short as the Lobos walked it off on Saturday afternoon at Lobo Softball Field, 5-4.
How it happenedÂ
Tiara Westbrook started things off for the Bulldogs in the second with an RBI single. New Mexico was looking at their first chance as bases loaded on an error from Alyssa Ramriez. Rylee Bocchini caught her ninth player stealing to disrupt the Lobos scoring run. Alyssa Loza struck out the next two Lobos and left the remaining two on base.Â
Fresno State tacked on one more run the next inning. Bulldogs loaded up the bases with Bocchini's RBI bringing in pinch runner Arianna Aguayo. Loza gave up two runs before Ramriez took the mound. Lobos earned one more in third and another in fourth.Â
Emma Martinez was the catalyst that sparked Fresno State for a comeback with a three RBI home run in the sixth inning. Martinez hit the big one when the 'Dogs were left with two outs.Â
Bulldogs worked to set themselves up well as Tiara Westbrook loaded up the bases on a single, Flores struck out swinging leaving the 'Dogs on. New Mexico hit a walk off home run bringing in two for the win.Â
