FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team prepares for their final road series of the season at Nevada for a three game series beginning on Friday, Apr. 24 at 6 p.m. PT on the Mountain West Network.Â
Bulldog BonesÂ
Home run hittersÂ
Tiara Westbrook, Mallory Vancleave and Emma Martinez put up heavy home runs for the 'Dogs.
Westbrook sparked the 'Dogs seven run inning with her two RBI home run. Vancleave followed it up the next inning with her big hit bringing three across the plate. Martinez came in clutch when she hit a three run home run after the 'Dogs were down, 4-2.
Vancleave tied Jamie Hicks for the most home runs this season at four, Westbrook and Martinez marked their second of the season.
Leadoff starÂ
Emma Martinez has shown up big as the Bulldogs leadoff hitter.
In the second game of the series, Martinez hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning that brought the 'Dogs back within a one run lead.
Over the series Martinez put up four runs off two hits, three RBIs along with a double & home run on a .250 batting average.
Martinez's longest hitting streak this season is twelve games.
Carranco's K's
Lauryn Carranco sits at 99 strikeouts this season. The Clovis, Calif. native sits second in the Mountain West, sitting five behind New Mexico's Benningfield (105).
