FRESNO, Calif. -The Fresno State women's soccer team fell 5-0 to Long Beach State on Thursday night at Bulldog Soccer Stadium, dropping the Bulldogs to 0-3-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State came out under pressure early, as Long Beach State found the back of the net just one minute into the match. The Bulldogs continued to compete through the opening half, with goalkeeper Jewelisa Gomez making a pair of saves to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance. Long Beach State added a second goal in the 28th minute to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime with a long-range shot from outside the box.
The Beach extended its lead early in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute after a shot deflected off the Fresno State netminder's glove and into the net. Eight minutes later, Long Beach State made it a 4-0 game after a Beach midfielder sent a shot into the top corner of the goal.
Long Beach State completed the scoring on a penalty kick to expand their lead to 5-0 with under 25 minutes left to play. Fresno State tallied two shots in the final 10 minutes of the match, both of which missed the target as Long Beach State handed the Bulldogs their third straight shutout loss of the season.
