Bulldogs draw with Sacramento State

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team earned their first point of the season after drawing 1-1 with Sacramento State on Thursday at Bulldog Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs struck early, taking the lead just two minutes into the match when Hayden Crotty-Romero found the back of the net following a free kick by Aryana Martinez. It was the Bulldog's first goal of the season, and the first of Crotty-Romero's career.
Fresno State goalkeeper Jessie Reiss kept the Bulldogs in front throughout the opening half with her play in net. The Hornets recorded 12 shots in the first half, but Reiss stood strong in goal as the junior made nine saves to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.
The Bulldogs continued to create chances early in the second half, with Katie Morris and Aryana Martinez each putting shots on target that were saved by the Sacramento State goalkeeper. Fresno State continued their offensive attack, as shots by Selah Simms and Crotty-Romero were put on goal but were turned aside by the Hornet netminder.
Reiss continued her strong performance in goal, making five more saves in the second half. With Fresno State holding onto its one-goal advantage late in the match, Sacramento State found the equalizer in the 88th minute, leveling the match at 1-1.
The final scoring chance for Fresno State came moments later as Mariona Sene Corominas sent a shot on goal that was saved by the Sacramento State goalkeeper, as the match between the Bulldogs and Hornets would end in a 1-1 tie.
