Brian Clay is in second season as the Director of On-Campus Recruiting.
Clay rejoined the Bulldogs’ staff prior to the 2018 season after a short stint with the team as the director of high school relations in the spring of 2017. He departed to pursue an opportunity to work with the New York Jets while away from Fresno State. Prior to that, Clay spent the 2016 football season as a recruiting specialist at San Jose State.
Before moving to the Bay Area, Clay was at Washington, where he doubled as a student-athlete and a recruiting specialist.
Clay started as a recruiting specialist prior to his senior season with the Huskies, beginning work as a master’s student following the spring of 2015 after earning a bachelor’s of arts degree in sociology.
He continued in his specialist role through his 2015 playing season until accepting a position with the Spartans in the spring of 2016. Before departing Washington, he received a masters of education and sports administration, earning it in one year.
As a senior safety in 2015, Clay started 12 of 13 games and was the team’s third-leading tackler with 65 stops. Clay also competed in all 14 games as a junior, chipping in 12 tackles.
The Vacaville, Calif. native prepped at Will C. Wood High, and was a three-time letterwinner.
His father, Brian Clay, Sr., played at Fresno State in 1985-86.
