Spencer Petras joined the Fresno State coaching staff in March 2026 as an offensive analyst. He will work alongside the offensive line.Â
Most recently, Petras was the quarterbacks coach at his alma mater Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California. Following his collegiate career with stops at Iowa and Utah State, Petras attended mini cams with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.Â
Petras spent his collegiate career as a quarterback at Iowa (2018-23) and Utah State (2024). He played in 46 career games with 40 starts, completing 682-of-1,152 passes for 7,516 yards. In his seasons at Iowa, he compiled a 20-11 record as the starting quarterback. He ranked 10th in Iowa history with 5,199 career passing yards. He spent the 2023 season with an injury, and assisted with the offense while sidelined. He transferred to Utah State for his final season of eligibility in 2024, starting all nine games played and totaling 2,315 yards passing while earning honorable mention All-Mountain West honors.Â
Petras is a native of San Rafael, California. He graduated from Iowa with his bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial health in 2021 and earned his master’s degree from Utah State in sports management in 2024. Â
