L.J. Early was hired as Fresno State’s Director of Recruiting Operations in October 2023.
Early is no stranger to the Valley, playing in a Bulldog uniform from 2019-22. During his Fresno State playing career, Early played in 29 games over three seasons after redshirting in 2019. He joined the program as a junior college transfer out of Bakersfield College.
Early was recruited to play for Fresno State in part of Coach Tedford’s first stint as head coach of the program. Early, a defensive back, truly is Bulldog Born and Bulldog Bred as he grew up in the Central Valley in nearby Tulare.
The former Bulldog earned his undergraduate degree from Fresno State in Africana Studies, then earned his master’s in education with a concentration in instruction and curriculum.
Early and his wife Kayla were Fresno State student-athletes together with Kayla playing soccer for the Bulldogs from 2018-21. They have two sons, Koa and Tylan.
