Mandi Carver enters her tenth season with the Bulldogs. As an assistant coach for her first three seasons at Fresno State, she was promoted to associate head coach in July 2016. Carver's coaching emphasis is with the Bulldogs' post players.Â
Three of Carver's athletes have won "of the Year" awards in the conference beginning in her first season with Alex Sheedy as the senior was tabbed Mountain West Co-Player of the Year. Bego Faz Davalos followed up by being named Defensive Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017. As a sophomore in 2016, she led the nation in blocked shots (4.0 bpg), and 2017 saw her rank in the top 10 in the country in seven categories. Faz Davalos went on to set five school records and eight conference records.
Most recently, Maddi Utti became the program's first outright MW Player of the Year in 2020 after averaging a double-double during the conference season (15.4 ppg/10.0 rpg). She was the sixth player at Fresno State to be named a conference player of the year.  Overall, Utti led the league in made field goals (212), steals (73) and steals per game (2.3), and ranked third in the Mountain West in points per game (15.9), field goal percentage (51.5%), rebounds per game (8.9), total rebounds (284), double-doubles (11) and double-digit rebounding games (11). She has ranked in the top 25 nationally each of the past two seasons in field-goal percentage.
In total, Carver's athletes have been selected to the All-MW Team four times, honorable mention three times, All-Defensive Team four times and All-Freshman twice. At least one of her post players has earned a conference accolade in each season. In seven tournaments, Carver's post players have accounted for five of the Bulldogs' 10 all-tournament team selections.
Carver last was an assistant coach at San Jose State from 2011-13 and before that served one season as an assistant at Bakersfield. At both schools she held the role of recruiting coordinator as well to her coaching duties. At SJSU, working with the post players, she was instrumental in the development of first-team All-WAC forward Brittany Johnson, who led the WAC in scoring in 2011-12 at 20.1 points per game.
In her lone season at Bakersfield, she played an integral role in helping the team achieve a record 22 wins and advance all the way to the Women’s Basketball Invitation championship game.
Carver got into coaching after a lengthy and distinguished professional playing career. After signing as a free agent with the Detroit Shock of the WNBA in 2002, she played professionally overseas from 2002-09 with the Duran Maquinaria Ensino, AD Vargos, Asteras Exarheion, Antranik-Beirut, TTT-Riga, CSKA-Sofia, Brunnen Basket, Panathinaikos and COB Calais.

She graduated as Idaho State’s all-time leader in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots and as a senior in 2001-02 led the nation in rebounding.
Carver graduated from Idaho State in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in arts and communication. She also obtained a master’s of accounting and financial management in 2008 from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
