Fresno State Baseball senior second baseman Nolan Dempsey has been named the Fresno State Student-Athlete of the Week on April 22.
Helping the Diamond 'Dogs to a perfect 4-0 mark and a sweep over San Jose State on the road, Dempsey had a standout week from the plate hitting .389 going 7-for-18. The San Carlos, Calif., native registered a 1.000 slugging percentage on the week with two doubles, three home runs, three runs scored, eight RBI and 18 total bases.
Registering at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, Dempsey matched his single-game career-high on Thursday with three hits while adding a stolen base and two RBI in a 8-6 win. The following day on Friday, he smacked a pair of long balls, a solo and three-run shot, driving in four Bulldog runs in a 7-5 win over the Spartans.
Entering the week with only one home run on the season, the senior got his week started on Tuesday with a solo home run against CSU Bakersfield and closed out the week on Saturday with an RBI double in a 6-1 victory.
