How It Happened
Cal State Bakersfield jumped out quickly, plating two runs in the first inning on a two-run home run from Devon Wilkes to take an early 2-0 lead.
Fresno State answered right back in the second. A two-run triple from Jett Ruby tied the game before Brady Hewitt followed with an RBI single to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 advantage.
The Bulldogs added two more in the fourth inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Hewitt and Griffen Sotomayor, stretching the lead to 5-2.
Bakersfield responded with a three-run fifth inning to even the score at 5-5, then took a 6-5 lead in the sixth on an RBI double from Wilkes.
Fresno State delivered the decisive blow in the seventh. With two runners on, Sky Collins launched a three-run home run to left field, flipping a one-run deficit into an 8-6 Bulldog lead.
The 'Dogs added insurance in the eighth, scoring twice on an RBI single from Sotomayor and an RBI triple by Michael Boyd to extend the lead to 10-6.
Jordan Haver shut the door out of the bullpen, tossing three scoreless innings to secure the win.
