Hard work pays off, never count your chickens until they?ve hatched and you can teach old dogs new tricks. Enter your clich?? here but know this, the Fresno State women?s soccer team is now a member of the 48-field NCAA Championships.
"This is the greatest moment in Fresno State women?s soccer history," head coach Peter Reynaud said. "It is truly an honor to be apart of the NCAA Championships. These seniors, as well as the rest of the squad, deserve to be recognized and rewarded with this bid for their tremendous season."
The Bulldogs (14-5-2) earned an at large bid that pits the squad versus Cal Poly in the first round 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Bulldog Stadium. The match will mark the sixth time the programs have gone head-to-head. Cal Poly holds a 3-2 series advantage over the ?Dogs, but Fresno State did claim the latest match with its 1-0 overtime win over the Mustangs in San Luis Obispo earlier this fall.
The winner of the first round match will face Stanford who received a first-round bye. Undefeated Santa Clara received the top spot in the tournament with a No. 1 ranking, while powerhouse North Carolina and defending champion Florida are seeded No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Tickets for the Bulldogs? first round match will be on sale Monday at the Fresno State ticket office (257-DOGS) and are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, students and children. No passes or coupons will be accepted.
