FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Athletics mourns the loss of Peter Reynaud, the founding head coach of the Bulldogs' women's soccer program and a pioneering figure in collegiate soccer, who passed away in 2026 at the age of 82.
Reynaud served as the first head coach in Fresno State women's soccer history from 1995 to 2000, building the program from its inception into a competitive force. In just six seasons, he guided the Bulldogs to a 63-56-7 record and led the team to a Western Athletic Conference championship and its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999. That same year, he was honored as the WAC Coach of the Year.
A respected leader in the soccer community, Reynaud's coaching career spanned decades and included successful tenures at Sonoma State, where he led the Seawolves to an NCAA Division II national championship, as well as coaching roles at California and Long Beach State. His contributions to the sport were recognized with his induction into the Sonoma State Athletics Hall of Fame.
Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Reynaud was known for his mentorship, integrity, and commitment to student-athlete development. His influence extended far beyond wins and championships, shaping the lives of those he coached and worked alongside.
Fresno State Athletics extends its deepest condolences to the Reynaud family and all who were touched by his life and legacy.
