Baseball Team Defeats No. 20 Pepperdine, 5-3

Malibu, Calif. - The Bulldogs used three runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Pepperdine Waves, 5-3. Coming into this weekend the Waves were ranked 20th by Baseball America. The win ups the Bulldogs' record to 7-7, while the Waves were handed their first lost of the season.
Pepperdine got on the board first when it scored a run in the first inning of Fresno State starter Nick Moran. The Waves lead would be short lived as they Bulldogs jumped ahead in the top of the second.
Designated hitter Michael Bowlin reached on a error by the second baseman, then moved over to second on a single by centerfielder Tony Guzman. Both Bowlin and Guzman would score on a single by first baseman Brandon Gemoll when his single to centerfield richocheted of Danny Garcia.
The Waves would tie the game in the bottom of the third as neither team would score for the next five innings. Each team had several chances to score, but both teams would work out of several jams.<>
