Baseball Team Gets Swept By Rice

Houston, Texas - The Rice Owls used four runs in the fifth inning to pull away from the Bulldogs and take Sunday's game, 8-2. The Owls swept the series, winning Friday, 10-4, and Saturday, 8-5. The Bulldogs' record falls to 7-11 and 0-3 in the Western Athletic Conference.
Rice opened up the scoring with a run off Fresno State starter, Nick Moran, in the first inning. The Bulldogs would battle back to tie the game at one in the second inning.
After back-to-back strikeouts by rightfielder Dan Duke and second baseman Jeff Prieto, first baseman Nick Garcia singled to left field. Garcia moved to second on a single by catcher Brad Harper. Garcia would score on a RBI single by third baseman Max Drake.
The game would only remained tied for an inning as the Owls picked up two runs in the third of Moran on a two-run home run by centerfielder Will Ford.
The Bulldogs would pull within a run in top of the fourth when Prieto led off the inning with his fourth home run
