Baseball Team Posts 16-8 Victory Over Utah

Salt Lake City, Utah - Fresno State continued its scoring surge against Utah as the Bulldogs scored in five different innings on their way to a 16-8 victory. The Bulldogs are now 32-27 overall and 13-13 in the Western Athletic Conference. Fresno State and Utah will finish out the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. MST.
After scoring 14 runs against the Utes on Friday, the Bulldogs started Saturdays game by posting five runs in the first inning. Rightfielder Joe Gerber led off the game with a single, then scored on a double by second baseman Tom Creighton when Utah rightfielder could not field the ball cleanly. After an infield single by first basman Nick Garcia, Creighton was earsed at third on a grounder by designated hitter Jeff Prieto.
Garica would score the second run of the game on a single by centerfielder Tony Guzman. Prieto, who moved up to third on throw home to get Garcia, scored on the back end of a double-steal with Guzman. Third baseman Jason Fanconi would finish
