Bulldogs Walk Away with Coors Light Classic Title

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Courtney Alexander scored 22 points to lead Fresno State to a 73-62 victory against Miami-Ohio in the championship game of the Coors Light Classic on Wednesday night.
Fresno State (9-4) took the lead for good with an 8-0 run midway through the second half for a 46-41 lead. Alexander had four in that run.
Miami (7-3), behind Wally Szczerbiak, cut the margin to three points twice before a 9-0 Fresno run gave the Bulldogs a 59-47 lead with 4:41 left in the game. Terrance Roberson, who added 16 for the Bulldogs, had five in that run.
Szczerbiak, who led all scorers with 29 points, hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut the margin to six with 3:40 left but hit two free throws and a short jumper to start a 10-5 Fresno run, sealing the victory.
Willie Farley added 11 for the Bulldogs and Larry Abney finished with 10. Damon Frierson had 10 for Miami.
After trailing early in the game, Miami used an 11-2 run to take a 13-8 lead midway through the first half. Szczerbiak had five points in that run for Miami.
Fresno was down by seven with just less than four minutes left in the half but Alexander sparked a nine-point Bulldog run with five points for a 30-28 lead. Szczerbiak scored with eight seconds left in the half to tie the game going into halftime.
