Mens Tennis Sweeps Opponent For Second Straight Day

The 22nd-ranked Fresno State mens tennis (6-7) team defeated Santa Clara (4-5), 7-0, today at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno, Calif.
The Bulldogs received doubles victories at No. 1 and No. 3 for a 1-0 lead in the match. Sophomore Joseph Gilbert and junior Andy Scorteanu won their fourth straight doubles match with a victory over Jeremy Testwuide and Marcell Hlousek of Santa Clara, 8-1, at No. 1. Freshman Nick Fustar and senior Olivier Le Jeune defeated Scott Watters and Lars Nelson of Santa Clara, 8-3, at No. 3.
In singles, Le Jeune continued his winning ways as he won his eighth match in nine attempts by defeating Hlousek, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2. It took three sets, but Scorteanu extended his win streak to four with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, win over Santa Claras Matt Cox at No. 3.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, March 13, as they travel to 25th-ranked California at noon.
