Malibu, Calif. - A run in the bottom of the ninth inning by Pepperdine completed its comeback as the Waves defeated the Bulldogs 5-4 in Malibu.
The Waves got on the board first when they scored a run in the bottom of the second inning of starter Tom Graham. The Bulldogs would answer with two runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead.
Shortstop Jason Fanconi got the inning going when he was hit by a pitch. He moved up on a single by outfielder Joe Gerber. After first baseman Beau Hintz walked, Fanconi and Gerber scored on a single by leftfield Anthony Acevedo.
Pepperdine would tie the game at two in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run by first baseman Jared Pitney.
The Bulldogs would break the tie in the top of the sixth inning. Acevedo singeled, then scored on a double to left center by third baseman Denis Brewer. After a single by second baseman Jeff Prieto, Fresno State would load the bases on a single by designated hitter Michael Bow
