Women's Tennis Eliminated From NCAA Tennis Championships

Fresno, Calif. - The 20th-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team was eliminated for the NCAA Tennis Championships by the fifth-ranked University of Mississippi, 5-1, today in Gainesville, Fla.
The Bulldogs conclude their season with a 24-7 overall record while Mississippi improved to 24-4 and will move on to face Duke tomorrow.
The bright spot for the Bulldogs came at No. 1 singles, where sixth-ranked Dora Djilianova upset fourth-ranked Agnes Muzamel of Mississippi, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0. The win improved Djilianovas record to an impressive 41-8 overall and prepares her for the NCAA individual tournament which begins on Monday. Djilianova has won 19 consecutive singles matches dating back to March 14. Her last loss was to top-ranked Zuzana Lesenarova of San Diego.
Djilianova will also take part in the doubles tournament with partner Liesl Fichtbauer.
This was Fresno States first appearance in the NCAA Tennis Championships round of 16. The Bulldogs defeated 47th-ranked Harvard, 7-2, and upset 14th-ranked William & Mary, 5-3, in regional competition to qualify for the trip to Gainesville, Fla.
