FRESNO, Calif. - Lindsay Logan had the biggest night for a freshman in Fresno State history, scoring 33 points in leading the Bulldogs to an 83-75 victory over TCU at the North Gym. The victory improves FS's record to 8-8 (1-1 WAC). TCU drops to 10-9 (1-3).
Fresno State came out hot, jumping out to an early 10-point lead. TCU cut it to seven with 1.8 seconds remaining the first half, but a Logan 60-footer at the buzzer found nothing but net, and the Bulldogs went into the break with a 36-26 advantage.
The Horned Frogs bounced back, however, eventually taking a 45-42 lead with 13:12 remaining. However, a 20-8 run over the next five minutes by Fresno State gave it control of the game through the remainder of the contest.
Freshman Lindsay Logan performed valiantly, playing all 40 minutes. Her 33 points were a career high and most scored by a freshman in Fresno State history. She hit five of her nine three-point attempts and dished out six assists. Logan has played in all 125 minutes possible in FS's last three games.
Freshman Omelogo Udeze had 15 points, tying a career high, and 10 rebounds, seven of which were offensive, racking up her second double-double of the season. Senior Tiffany Lewis contributed her eighth double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 boards.
TCU?s Kim Walter led the Horned Frogs with 19 points on seven of eight shooting. She also was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw stripe. Janice Thomas chipped in 10 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.
The Bulldogs? 83 point effort ties for the highest output total of the season. They also had 83 in a victory over Boston University on Nov. 27.
The team returns to action on Saturday at 7 p.m. when the SMU Mustangs (10-5 ,3-0 WAC) invade the North Gym. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Media One (Channel 14) will televise the game live and KFIG (AM 1430) will broadcast the game on a tape delay basis at 10 p.m.
