Track and Field Hits The Starting Blocks

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State track and Field team will once again open the 2001 season with the Turkey Trials this Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Warmerdam Field. The events begin at 2 p.m.
The purpose of the Turkey Trials is to provide friendly competition amongst present Fresno State track and field athletes, former Bulldogs and other surrounding community invitees. Both male and female athletes will participate in 12 events. The women's running events will consist of the 350 meter, 300 meter, 55 meter hurdles, 2-mile and the 4 x 50 meter relay. The women's field events consist of the hammer, shot put, javelin, long jump, high jump, 4 hops and a jump and pole vault. The men's running events consist of the 350 meter, 55 meter hurdles, 600 meters, 2-mile, 4 x 50 meter relay and 300 meter hurdles. The men's field events consist of the high jump, pole vault, javelin, weight, hammer and shot put.
Last season seven awards were given to 14 men and women in recognition for their outstanding participation throughout the Trials. Below is the list of the winners from 2000.

The Bulldogs begin regular season competition on Saturday, Jan. 13, when they host the Weight Pentathlon.
