FRESNO, Calif. - Five former Bulldogs will be inducted into the Fresno State baseball Hall of Fame Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Tornino's. The evening will begin with a social hour starting at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the program will start at 8 p.m.
The Five outstanding gentlemen to be inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2000 are Randy Asadoor, Terry Banderas, Brant Brown, Jim Garrett, and Kurt Walker. Randy Asadoor played the hot corner for the Bulldogs from 1981 through 1983 and left Fresno State holding many records before playing on the U. S. National Team in 1983. Terry Banderas played centerfield for the Dogs in 1961 and '62 with a career batting average of .344. Brant Brown a memorable first baseman from 1990 through '92 with a career batting average of .326. Jim Garrett was a catcher for the Bulldogs in 1959 and '60 and averaged over .300 both years. Kurt Walker commanded the mound in 1982 and '83 by compiling a record of 20-4 during his Fresno State career.
The criteria for becoming a Hall of Fame candidate is very stringent. The individual must have distinguished himself as a player, coach or participant while at Fresno State. He must have competed at a higher level than most of his teammates or peers equal to the best players in the country. His performances at Fresno State must have received national recognition and he must have exhibited dedication to his team and the Fresno State baseball program.
