Golf Inks Early Recruit

FRESNO, Calif.- - Ian Nelson, a high school senior from Temecula, has signed the National Letter of Intent and accepted a scholarship to play golf for Fresno State.

Nelson comes with some strong credentials. He is the 2000 Player of the Year on the International Junior Golf Tour and last season's CIF All-Valley Player of the Year. He won the Santa Barbara County Men's Amateur played at the LaPurisima Golf Course in Lompoc, a course known for its complexity. He has a USGA Index of 1.2 stokes better than zero.

"I am very happy about the early signing," said head golf coach Mike Watney. "Ian comes with some tremendous credentials and will make us a better team instantly."
