Football Takes Down Hawai'i 45-27

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State piled up 466 yards of total offense and scored 45 consecutive points en route to a 45-27 victory over Hawai'i at Bulldog Stadium. The win, FS's second in a row, runs its record to 5-3 (4-1 WAC). The Warriors drop to 1-7 (1-6 WAC).
The win was Fresno State's 14th consecutive at Bulldog Stadium, the third longest home winning streak in the nation. The Bulldogs are winning their home games by an average score of 39-15.
David Carr was a major factor in the game. The junior quarterback threw for 257 yards on 23-of-28 passing and two touchdowns. Carr also used his legs to his advantage, scoring two touchdowns rushing the ball. When passing, wide receiver Bernard Berrian was a frequent target of Carr's, catching eight passes for 123 yards and one touchdown. The Fresno State running game also got on track, with Josh Levi running for 93 yards and Paris Gaines galloping for 60.
UH's quarterback Nick Rolovich took a beating starting in place of Timmy Chang, who missed the game with a concussion suffered in the Warriors' loss last week to San Jose State. Despite throwing for 297 yards, Rolovich was 26-of-44 with two interceptions and was victimized by several ferocious hits courtesy of the FS defense.
Despite the decisive score, the Bulldogs got behind early when Hawai'i scored touchdowns on its first two possessions. However, Fresno State scored 45 unanswered points to take a decisive advantage. The key play in the onslaught when Terence Brown blocked an attempted field goal by Hawai'. The block was picked up by Dante Marsh and returned 81 yards for a Bulldogs touchdown.
Fresno State will travel on the road next week to take on No. 9 TCU. Game time is 12:30 p.m. PST at Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The game will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
