FRESNO, Calif. -- Senior David Mullins has earned a singles ranking in the WingspanBank.com rankings released Tuesday night. The national rankings are determined by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Ranking Committee and given to the top 100 men's and women's singles players in the country. The ITA also released its rankings for men's and women's doubles, which includes the top 50 teams in the nation.
Mullins was ranked No. 62 and was the only Fresno State player to earn a national ranking. Mullins was 11-3 in the tournament portion of the fall season, winning the Wathen/Hancock Bulldog Classic and advancing to the round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships. Mullins finished last season 29-9 overall in singles after being ranked as high as No. 56 at the beginning of the year.
Junior Peter Luczak, who finished last season ranked No. 32 among singles players in the nation, was ranked at No. 14 in August when the first set of preseason rankings were released. The unranked Luczak figures to be ranked once again when he returns to the Bulldog lineup in the spring, after taking the fall semester off to compete in satellite and challenger tournaments.
Genius Chidzikwe of SMU and Bea Bielik of Wake Forest were the No. 1 ranked men's and women's singles players, respectively.
