FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State, winners of eight consecutive games, entered two of the three national Top 25 polls Monday. The Bulldogs (8-2) are ranked No. 23 by both Collegiate Baseball Magazine and USA Today Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches. It is the first time since February 1998 that Fresno State has been in the national rankings.
The Bulldogs are off to their best start since 1995 and have swept their last three opponents -- Pepperdine, Santa Clara and Oregon State -- by combined score of 69-21. The eight-game winning streak is the longest by Fresno State since March 9-21, 1997, when the Bulldogs won 10 consecutive contests.
Fresno State concludes its current four-game homestand tomorrow night when it hosts Cal Poly (3-7). It will mark the Bulldogs' first mid-week game of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pete Beiden Field.
