FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 6 Bulldogs slipped one spot from last weeks No.5 ranking after their third place finish at the Morris Williams Invitational. Fresno State earned a three-round total of 294-302-290--886 behind tournament winner and No. 7 BYU. UNLV took second after a playoff round against BYU. UNLV is ranked No. 9.
The No. 6 ranking is continues to be the highest ranking the Bulldogs have enjoyed since the 1987 team, boasting now golf pros David and Kevin Sutherland, took ninth at the NCAA Championship tournament.
Two Bulldogs are in line to break the Fresno State school record of all-time lowest season average set by Tim Norris in 1980 at 71.89. Ryan King is boasting a 71.71 season average earning top 20 finishes in all seven tournaments competed in this year. Todd Rose has earned a 71.86 season average this year. Rose holds the season's highest finish placing third at the Nelson at Stanford with a score of 209. Danny Paniccia currently averages 72.38, an average that will place him among the top 10 all-time season best averages at Fresno State.
