Wenholz Dominates Easter Decathlon

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Scott Wenholz was completely dominant for a second consecutive day, winning two of the four events and eventually totaling 7,383 points over both days to place first in the Fresno State Easter Decathlon, held at Warmerdam Field.
Wenholz started the day with a 15.47 in the 110-meter high hurdles, good for 794 points. He followed up that effort with a throw of 44.80 meters in the discus and a pole vault of 17-0 3/4, both of which placed him first in the respective events. The senior finished the day by running the 1500 in 5:13.35 for a day two point total of 3,729 and an overall point total of 7,383, good enough to qualify him provisionally for the NCAA Track and Field Championships, held June 2-3 in Durham, N.C.
Also strong in the event was Fresno State's Justin Schwartz, who finished second with 6,064 points, including a 4:51.84 in the 1500. Joe Hartford of Pomona College placed third with 6,016 while FS's Donnell Wickett was fourth with 5,993.
The Bulldogs hit the road to participate in the College Series Championship, held Saturday in Austin, Texas.
