FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State starting pitcher Tom Graham (Sr., Modesto, Calif.) was named WAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday. It is the 11th time a Bulldog has been named either Player or Pitcher of the Week this season.
Graham pitched one of the best games of his four-year career in Saturday's 6-1 victory at then-No. 10 Nebraska. He needed only 85 pitches to toss his first complete game of the season. The 6-foot-7 right-hander retired the final 18 hitters of the game, did not walk a batter and struck out five to earn his seventh victory of the year. He faced only two hitters over the minimum and it was his eighth quality start of 2000.
Graham has a 7-5 record and 4.74 ERA in 18 appearances and 17 starts this season. He leads the team with 73 strikeouts in 89.1 innings pitched.
Fresno State returns to action on May 19 when it travels to San Jose State for a season-ending three-game WAC series. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Municipal Stadium.
