Men's Tennis Hosts Regional, Plays Oregon in First Round

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 13 seed Fresno State has received a berth in the NCAA men's tennis tournament and will play No. 49-64 seed Oregon in the first round on Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. It marks the seventh consecutive season the Bulldogs have received a berth in the NCAA's.
The other match in the Fresno State regional will feature No. 17-32 seed USC against No. 33-48 seed Pacific at 3 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The winners of the two matches will meet on Sunday, May 14, in the second round at 1 p.m. The team to win both of its matches in the regional will advance to round of 16, hosted by the University of Georgia, on Saturday, May 20.
This marks the second consecutive year and third since 1995 the Bulldogs have been chosen to host an NCAA regional. The Bulldogs have never lost a regional match they have hosted, defeating New Mexico 4-1 in 1995 and USC 4-1 last year. FS is also 9-1 all-time in NCAA first and second round matches and is 65-3 at home since the 1993-94 season, including its current 24-match winning streak at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
Of the three other teams in the regional, USC is the only team Fresno State has played this year. The Bulldogs defeated the Trojans 4-3 on Feb. 1.
Tickets for the event will go on sale Saturday, May 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
