Bulldogs Qualify for NCAA Individual Championships

FRESNO, Calif. -
The Fresno State tennis teams will be represented by five players at the NCAA Individual Championships. Peter Luczak, Olivier Le Jeune, Rob Cheyne and Andy Scorteanu will be competing in Athens, Georgia beginning Wednesday, May 24. Kim Niggemeyer will be competing at Pepperdine beginning on Monday, May 22.
Peter Luczak (Jr., Melbourne, Australia) currently ranked No. 32 in the nation will be making his second appearance in the tournament. Last year Luczak made it to the Round of 16 and earned All-American honors before falling to Nathan Overholser of Florida. This season Luczak is 31-12 overall and 17-6 in dual matches with a total of 81 wins as a Bulldog.
Olivier Le Jeune (Sr., Porspoder, France) is also making his second appearance in the tournament. Last year Le Jeune fell to Esteban Carril of TCU 6-7, 7-5, 7-5 in the second round. Le Jeune is currently ranked at No. 43 in the nation and is four wins shy of becoming the school's career wins leader. He is 20-3 in dual matches and 29-10 overall.
The doubles team of Rob Cheyne (Sr., Wellington, New Zealand) and Andy Scorteanu (Sr., Palm Springs, Calif.) who have earned a national ranking of No. 21 in the nation will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Individual Championships. This season is the first for the duo as a doubles team but have won nine out of their 12 matches.
Kim Niggemeyer (So., Berlin, Germany) is also making her first trip to the NCAA Individual Championships. Niggemeyer is currently ranked No. 41 in the nation and is 15-7 in dual matches. Her biggest win this season came at the San Diego Tennis Classic where she defeated No. 3 Zuzana Lesenarova of San Diego.
