FRESNO, Calif.- Senior David Mullins and transfer Sean Cooper each earned two singles victories to lead Fresno State during the first round of the Third Annual Charles Fluitt Collegiate Classic in Lexington, Ky., Friday.
Mullins defeated Baylor's Mark Williams 6-5, 6-3 in his first match of the day, and then breezed past Oli Choo of Harvard 6-2, 6-4 in the afternoon session. Cooper's first performance as a Bulldog included victories over Baylor's Csongor Bibza (6-3, 6-3) and Harvard's Cliff Nguyen (5-6, 6-4, 6-3). Cooper and Mullins then teamed up to defeat Harvard's duo of William Lee and Andrew Styperek 8-4 in doubles play.

The tandem of Fustar and Krohn bested Harvard's doubles team of Choo and Cillie Swart 8-6. However, Fustar and Krohn weren't as successful in their singles matches, losing by counts of 1-6, 3-6 and 3-6, 1-6, respectively.
Play is governed by a "hidden match format" in which teams match up but only individual results are tallied. Awards will be given to the winner of each flight, and a percentage of wins ill be used to determine the champion of each flight.
The Bulldogs will battle host Kentucky on Saturday morning and then face No. 3 Tennessee in the afternoon session.
