FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State starting nose tackle Jason Stewart is healthy and has returned to Fresno after spending the night in a Fort Collins, Colo., hospital, necessitated after he suffered a concussion during Saturday's game against Colorado State.
Stewart returned to Fresno on Sunday and is in good health. He will miss this week's game against Boise State and will be re-evaluated next week. The injury occurred during the third quarter on CSU quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt's touchdown run. Stewart made a dive in vain to catch Van Pelt and landed awkwardly, his head bouncing off the Hughes Stadium turf. Stewart remained on the field for several minutes but never lost consciousness. He was transported off the field by an ambulance and immediate taken to the hospital.
The eighth-ranked Bulldogs take on Boise State on Friday at 5 p.m. The game is being televised locally only by KFRE WB 59 (cable 5) and outside the Central Valley by ESPN.
