Offensive Woes Continue
Fresno State's lack of scoring cost them again as they fell against Boise State 1-0 in overtime on Thursday. The Bulldog defense held Boise State to only eight shots for the match but surrendered the winning score at the 100:08 mark during the first overtime period. It marked the 11th time this season the defense has contained an opponent under two goals. Fresno State attempted eight shots with four coming from sophomore midfielder Erin Sayegusa (Honolulu, Hawaii).
Scouting Nevada
The Wolf Pack are 0-11-1 this season with a 0-2-1 WAC mark. Nevada began the season 0-9 before tying with UTEP last week. This past week the Wolf Pack lost its only match which was against Boise State 4-1. Nevada is in the second year of its women's soccer program and have yet to win a road match. They are averaging 0.5 goals per match with their worst loss coming against Pacific Sept. 16, 6-0. On offense Nevada is led by Kaula Rowe who has three goals and an assist. At goalkeeper Janet Wildemuth has taken most of the load with a 2.43 GAA while recording 62 saves.
Senior Day
Today's home match will mark the final one for four Bulldogs this season. Seniors Jessica Peisch (Fresno, Calif.), Kristi Nicholls (Fresno, Calif.), Aimee Thompson and Reyna Green will be honored before the match. Thompson has started every match she's played in, 75, and Green has started all but one match she's played in, 65 of 66. Peisch became a regular last season and continued her solid play as a starting defender this season. Nicholls, who transferred from Fresno City College her junior year, has established herself on the Bulldog defense this season playing in 10 of 12 matches this season sitting out two because of an injury.
Christina Bell Day
Today Fresno State will be honoring former Bulldog great Christina Bell. She played from 1996-97 and was voted team MVP both seasons. Bell is in the top six all-time in all three offensive categories. She was the first Fresno State athlete to receive the prestigious Stan Bates Award from the WAC. The award is given to the student-athlete who excels in academics as well as on the field. The ceremony will take place at halftime in which Christina Bell's No. 13 will be retired which will mark the first player from the program to ever be so honored.
