Top-Seeded Bulldogs Win in Doubles at Saint Mary's

Fresno, Calif. - Four Bulldogs competed in the Saint Mary's Invitational held in Moraga, Calif. this past weekend, with Lucia Tallo and Chantel Wiggins winning in doubles, and Tallo advancing to the singles semifinals.
In singles, Tallo defeated fellow teammate and No. 2 seed Wiggins 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. She went on to play fifth-seeded Jien Jacobs of California, losing 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. Jacobs eventually won the tournament by defeating No. 1-seed Susanne Bertel of Pacific 6-3, 6-1.
In the first round, 10th-seeded Ewa Grusiecka fell to Cal's Kristen Case 6-4, 6-2, and Courtney Jantz lost to Christiane Barthel of Pacific in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
In doubles, top-seeded Tallo/Wiggins won the doubles tournament, ultimately defeating third-seeded Jien Jacobs of Cal and Courtney Jantz of Fresno State 8-2 in the final round.
