Men's Tennis Players Reach Singles Quarterfinals in Regional Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs had a strong showing overall in the tournament that was held at Santa Clara University this past weekend. Fustar won his first three matches before falling to third-seeded Veress Balaz of California 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Krohn defeated his first four opponents, including Stanford's No. 2-seed David Martin, before losing to No. 5-seed Scott Lipsky of Stanford.
In doubles, Hector Almada/Alex Krohn continued on to the semifinals before falling to Portland's No. 1-seeded Peter Malacek/Travis Parrott 8-4.
This event featured the top players from Division I schools throughout Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Stanford's K.J. Hippensteel won the singles title at this tournament last year while teammates Soctt Lipsky and David Martin took doubles.
