FRESNO, Calif. - For the second straight season, Fresno State will be playing in the Silicon Valley Football Classic. The game is scheduled for noon on Dec. 31 at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif., and will be broadcast nationally live on Fox SportsNet.
Fresno State received the invitation following Friday's 40-21 win over San Jose State, which clinched a second-place finish. The Bulldogs are 10-2 and ranked No. 22 in the nation. They complete their season next Saturday at home against Utah State.
"This is a great thing for our program," said head coach Pat Hill, who has guided the Bulldogs to three straight bowl games, a first in the program's history. "It is a great place for a bowl game. It's great for our fans, our players and the player's families because they can attend the game. We had a great experience there last season and are looking forward to it again this season."
Fresno State's opponent will be announced at a later date. Last season, the Bulldogs lost to Air Force 37-34 in the inaugural Silicon Valley Football Classic.
The Bulldogs will be making their 16th bowl appearance and third straight under Hill, who has guided Fresno State to a 35-24 record in five seasons as head coach.
Tickets for the game will be available through the Bulldog Ticket Office (559) 278-DOGS or online at www.gobulldogs.com.
