Golfer Watney Ranks in National Top Five

FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Nick Watney holds the fifth place spot on the Golfstat Cup national rankings released on March 30. Watney jumped from his ranking of 22 as of March 27.
After shooting a 54-hole school-record 200, Watney moved up to ninth. Watney then finished at T5th this week at the Morris Williams Invitational in Austin, Texas with his score of 141. For the fourth consecutive week, Watney leads the WAC with both his Golfstat Cup ranking and Golfweek/Sagarin ranking of 11.
Watney has competed in every tournament with the 'Dogs this season, 22 rounds in all. He set a career low 65 in Hawaii on February 21-23. He has a 70.86 average and has won two tournaments this season. The Bulldog from Dixon, Calif., was also named WAC Golfer of the Week for the week of March 19-25.
